Deniers of Hadith – Also Known as “Ahl-e-Quran”
Our beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) had already foretold about this fitna (trial)—that there would be people in the world who would claim that “only the Quran is sufficient for us.” The Prophet (peace be upon him) said:
“Beware! I have been given the Quran, and along with it, I have also been given another form of knowledge (Hadith). But soon, a wealthy and arrogant person reclining on his couch will say: ‘The Quran is sufficient for you. Accept whatever you find halal (permissible) in it and reject whatever you find haram (forbidden).'”
(Sunan Abu Dawood, Hadith No. 4604)
This hadith clearly warns us about the fitna of rejecting Hadith. Those who are disinterested in religion, follow their desires, and promote liberal ideologies deny the importance of Hadith. In the present times, individuals like Javed Ahmad Ghamidi and Engineer Ali Mirza refuse to accept rulings and matters derived from Hadith. Through social media, they spread their misguided beliefs regarding the authenticity of Hadith.
Misguided Beliefs and Ideologies of Hadith Deniers (Ahl-e-Quran)
- Hajj is merely a global conference.
- “Aakhirah” (Hereafter) refers to the future, not the afterlife.
- Jannah (Paradise) and Jahannam (Hell) do not exist.
- There are only two daily prayers—Fajr and Isha.
- Zakat is just a tax, so giving it is not an obligation.
- Hadith is a Persian conspiracy, meaning Hadith is man-made and has no religious authority.
- Obeying Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is not necessary; his only role was to deliver Allah’s message.
- The central authority (government) has the right to modify religious practices such as prayer, fasting, and financial dealings.
- “Obeying Allah and His Messenger” in the Quran does not refer to actual obedience but instead means obeying the central government.
- Only four things are haram (forbidden):
- Flowing blood
- Pork
- Any offering made to deities other than Allah
- Carrion (dead meat not slaughtered properly)
A Warning to Readers:
People who hold such misguided beliefs are not Muslims. Stay away from them and protect your own faith as well as that of others.
