Makatib- Religious Institutions

The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said that to seek knowledge is obligatory upon every Muslim. The Hadith conveys this message that religious educations and training are the basic need of every Muslim Child. The Islamic education and upbringing given to children during their early years play a crucial role in preserving their faith as they grow older. However, in many villages, there is no organized system or structure for such education, leaving poor Muslims and their children at risk of lacking Islamic religious guidance and faith (Emaan). Consequently, they become vulnerable to the influence of Qadiyanis/Ahmadiyyas and Christian missionaries, gradually losing their faith (Emaan).
Sadly, the new generations of Muslims in rural areas often don’t even know the name of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ). Even the older generation is often unaware of the most basic Islamic teachings and lacks any responsibility for educating their children in the faith. The trust was astonished to discover the extent of this ignorance, where many have never even seen the Holy Quran, let alone lived according to its teachings. While children in cities may lack knowledge of basic Islamic principles, they do not fall outside the fold of Islam or become disbelievers. However, the situation in rural areas is different, where ignorance of Islam can lead children to leave the faith and fall into the depths of Kufr.
With this goal in mind, trust has made the establishment of educational centers one of its main priorities. Majlis Tahaffuze Khatme Nubuwwat establishes elementary schools in the remote villages so that the Muslims with the help of Islamic education could keep practice their faith. Although every district has many villages that need Makatib (schools), but the trust focuses on organizing them in areas where Qadiyanis and Christians are most active. Alhamdulillah, the trust has been running Makatib for 14 years, successfully raising religious awareness in over 40 villages. Currently, the trust operates more than 132 elementary schools, and providing each teacher a monthly salary of 8,000 INR.
